It’s a race with close to 150 years of history and on Saturday, Craig Newitt will try to become the most successful jockey the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap has ever seen.
As a three-time winner of the famous sprint race, Newitt shares the record with Damien Oliver, and he will partner Lofty Strike in this year’s renewal at Flemington.
“I’ve been very fortunate to have been on some very good sprinters and hopefully this year’s no different,” Newitt said.
